Varicose Vein Treatments

varicose vein treatments

Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins, often dark blue in color, near or raised above the surface of the skin. Varicose vein affect approximately 30% of the U.S. population (70% being female and 30% male). Varicose veins are often a symptom of an underlying condition called venous insufficiency.

Varicose veins are superficial veins that have become enlarged and have lost their ability to effectively transport blood. Over time the veins stretch, bulge and become visible. These swollen, engorged or rope-like veins are called varicose veins. The valves inside these veins no longer close allowing blood to leak back down the leg causing more distention of the vein.

If left untreated, severe varicose veins can ultimately lead to chronic leg swelling, eczema-type symptoms, skin thickening and discoloration, and even ulcerations that won’t heal until the veins are treated.

Varicose Vein Treatments Include:

CoolTouch CTEV Endovenous Laser Ablation

This is a minimally invasive procedure performed right in your doctor’s office. It leaves no scar, has a short post-operative recovery period with only mild discomfort and is performed using only local anesthesia. The laser vein treatment itself will take less than an hour. The laser energy heats the vein causing it to shrink and collapse, preventing blood from pooling. Once the vein is closed, the blood that was circulating through this vein is simply rerouted to other healthy veins and the varicose vein essentially vanishes. With the CoolTouch CTEV, you will receive the best results available. You will experience minimal, if any, pain, bruising or post-op complications and the success rate is 98-100%. Your symptoms will begin to improve immediately after the CoolTouch CTEV procedure is completed.

VNUS Closure RadioFrequency Ablation: The Venefit™ Procedure

A minimally invasive varicose vein treatment in which a catheter is inserted in to the diseased vein. Heat is delivered to the vein wall causing it to collapse and close. The catheter is gradually withdrawn along the course of the vein until the entire vessel has been treated.  After the vein is sealed shut, blood is naturally re-routed to other healthier veins. Proven to be 98% effective.
