Dr. Wendell Goins is the Medical Director of Mid Carolina Surgery, Vein, Aesthetics and Wellness. This cutting edge facility offers the state-of-the-art minimally invasive technologies in the treatment of varicose and spider veins, as well as a variety of cosmetic and anti-aging treatments in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Goins obtained his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. in 1979. He completed his transitional medicine internship at the U.S. PHS hospital in Staten Island, NY and was a commissioned officer at the United States Public Health Service for two years.
He completed a Family Practice Residency in 1983 and a General Surgery Residency in 1988 at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. There he received the outstanding resident award and scored in the 99th percentile in his in-training surgery exam. Dr. Goins completed a Fellowship in trauma/surgical critical care at the R. Adams Cowley/University of Maryland Shock/Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD in 1989.
He served as Chief of Trauma-Surgical Critical Care and Chief of the Howard University Surgical Service at the District of Columbia General Hospital in Washington, D.C. until 1996. Dr. Goins was also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Howard University and authored or co-authored many medical articles, and chapters in medical books and made presentations at national medical meetings. He made two presentations at the 24th Annual Congress of the American College of Phlebology in 2010 on patient outcomes after; 1. 1000 endovenous laser ablations of varicose veins, 2. Office based Laser Liposuction.
Dr. Goins has been in private practice in the Carolinas since 1996 when he founded Mid-Carolina Surgery Center. The Consumers Research Council, an independent Washington, DC organization selected Dr. Goins as one of America’s Top Surgeons.
